DGI Waterproofing successfully resolved a major water intrusion issue for this Ajax home. Cracks surrounding the basement window area were allowing large amounts of water to seep inside. The Challenge: Window Cracks & Water Intrusion

The homeowners in Ajax contacted us after noticing significant water leaking into their basement during heavy rains. Upon inspection, we discovered active structural cracks located directly around the basement window area, which were serving as primary entry points for water.

To fix the root of the problem rather than applying a temporary patch, our Ajax exterior waterproofing team planned a comprehensive excavation and multi-layer sealing approach.

Manual Excavation, Wall Cleanup & Crack Sealing

Our crew carefully performed a manual excavation around the affected foundation zone to expose the concrete walls and window wells safely. Once exposed, we conducted a thorough wall cleanup.

Our sealing process included:

  • Crack Repair: Sealing all identified foundation and window-area cracks using high-strength hydraulic bonding concrete to restore structural integrity.
  • Aqua-Bloc Application: Applying a thick, seamless layer of premium liquid rubber waterproofing (Aqua-Bloc) directly to the exterior wall surface.

Membrane, Weeping Tile & Backfill Protection

To provide long-term defense against groundwater, we installed a heavy-duty dimpled drainage membrane secured at the top with specialized membrane termination strips, preventing any top-grade moisture bypass.

Drainage & Backfilling:
A new weeping tile system was installed along the footing, surrounded by clean gravel to facilitate fast and efficient water runoff. Finally, the trench was backfilled with native soil and professionally compacted to prevent future settling.
