DGI Waterproofing resolved a severe basement flooding issue for this Pickering homeowner. Excess groundwater was creating extreme hydrostatic pressure, forcing water up through the basement floor. Our team installed a comprehensive interior weeping tile and sump pump system to relieve the pressure and keep the floor completely dry.

The Challenge: Hydrostatic Pressure & Floor Flooding

The homeowners in Pickering were dealing with a highly stressful situation: excess groundwater was building up beneath their home, creating massive hydrostatic pressure. This pressure was literally forcing water up through the basement floor, causing continuous flooding.

To permanently relieve this pressure and protect the living space, our Pickering waterproofing specialists determined that a full interior weeping tile and sump pump system was the most effective solution.

Floor Demolition, Wall Cleanup & Anti-Microbial Prep

The project began with the precise demolition of the basement’s concrete perimeter floors. We carefully excavated the saturated soil and safely disposed of all concrete debris off-site.

Preparation and Treatment:

  • Wall Cleanup: The exposed foundation walls and footing were thoroughly cleaned to remove mud, debris, and efflorescence.
  • Anti-Microbial Spray: Because the water was entering through the floor, the environment was highly susceptible to mold. We applied a professional-grade anti-microbial spray and scrubbed the affected areas to ensure the basement remained healthy and odor-free.
  • Membrane Installation: A waterproof drainage membrane was supplied and installed to direct any future moisture straight into the new drainage trench.

Weeping Tile, Sump Pump & Floor Restoration

With the trench prepared, we supplied and installed a brand-new weeping tile system, embedding it in high-quality 3/4″ clear gravel to maximize water filtration and flow rate.

Active Water Management:
To actively combat the hydrostatic pressure, we installed a complete sump pump system, including the housing assembly, a heavy-duty pump, and drain extension lines to safely direct the water away from the property’s foundation. A backflow valve was also integrated to protect the basement from municipal sewer backups.

Finally, our team completed a seamless concrete floor restoration over the new drainage system, leaving the basement completely dry and ready for the homeowners to enjoy.
